The Most Beautiful Women in the World

So today I am going to get my haircut.  And it never fails that when I go I have to decide: do I keep the same ol' style or do I do something completely different?

So last night, as I was studying the General Conference Talk for Sunday's Relief Society lesson, I got to thinking that maybe, just maybe, I could find a really good hairstyle somewhere in the photos pages of the Ensign.

So I began to look.

Turning page.

After page.

After page.

And when I got to the end of the magazine, I still hadn't found a stylish haristyle.

But what I did find was that the most beautiful women in the world are not on the cover of People magazine.

The most beautiful women in the world are those who know they are daughters of God and then live and act accordingly.

Tidbit Tuesday - God's Perfect Love

"Sometimes, we foolishly recite facts about the Father and the Son, mechanically, and—forgive us—preach to them, preen before them, and display our ignorance and pride. Yet they continue to love us perfectly, each one of us, individually. Yes, they are all-powerful and all-knowing; their works extend eternally, yet their love for each of us is personal, knowing, uncompromising, endless, perfect."

Duty to God

Currently we have three deacons in our family.

Today one of them woke up with a fever and achy body.

After telling his Dad that he wasn’t feeling well enough to go to Church, my husband asked, “Well, what about your priesthood duties?”

To which our son shrugged his shoulders and responded, “I guess I can’t do them.”

“Well,” I mused, “that means you’ll have to call the deacon’s quorum president to let him know you will not be there today to fulfill your assignments.”

Really?” he winced.

I nodded.

So our son got up, went into the other room, dialed from my cell phone and called our home phone, asking for his older brother - who is currently serving as deacon’s quorum president - and let him know that he would not be at Church today to fulfill his priesthood assignments.

How. Stinking. Cute. Is. That.

Love of My Life

Today is not my husband’s birthday.

Nor is it our wedding anniversary.

But I just gotta let it out and say that even after all these 18.5 years of marriage my man’s still got me mesmerized, hypnotized, and wrapped exclusively around that hunky little heart of his.

How did that happen?

I mean, really!!?

Because I thought he was A-#1 Top Dog, Love of My Life all those years ago (I wouldn’t have said YES to him if I had felt any differently) but sure enough, true to our temple sealer’s word, my love for him has grown exponentially (depth, width, height and volume) that I have to wonder who in the heck was I in love with way back then?

I don’t know . . . but I do know that I’m still SO crazy in love with him now.

Seek and Find

This week found us in the hospital for very good reason . . . for because our home has grown by TWO feet!

And while in the hospital, I found that the messages of General Conference are never too hard to find.

Can you find reference to Elder Oak’s October 2007 General Conference Talk? (Click HERE for a hint)!(Okay, so you might have to click on the photo to get a better look at what you are looking for).

And what’s more, can you find where it says that this is the INSPIRED VERSION?!

Um, have I mentioned before that I HEART General Conference??

Tidbit Tuesday - Patriarchal Blessings

"Think of this—what does a patriarchal blessing say? Have you ever heard of one which says, 'I am sorry—you’re a loser. Do the best you can on earth, and we’ll see you in about seventy years.' Of course not! And you never will, because of the divine qualities each of God’s children has inherited. A patriarchal blessing is like a road map, a guide, directing you in your walk through life. It identifies your talents and the good things that can be yours."

General Conference Report

Well, here are three of our children's reports from Conference.

The one on the left is by our seven year old who painstakingly cut out every. single. picture. that was copied and laid each one of them out during every. single. session. But I have to admit, he glued them all in order!

The one in the middle is by our ten year old who wanted to feel as old as his 12 and 13 year old brothers and decided against the cutting and pasting and just take notes.

The one on the right is by our nine year old who used his scripture journal/notebook to cut and paste the speakers' pictures and then take his personal notes.

This Conference we did try the treat bowl by topic approach:

Before the first session we put gospel phrases on pieces of paper and placed them in a bowl.  We drew two phrases out per session.  If a speaker spoke on that topic we had a treat bowl that everyone could take a treat or two.

For the most part it helped hold attention for our younger ones.

All laid out!

Notice the licorice treat on the barrel!

Enjoying Conference

Oh, how I HEART General Conference!!

April 2, 2005

Six years ago, today, was the 175th semi-annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

It was also the same day of the passing of Pope John Paul II.

The very next morning, during the Sunday session of General Conference, President Gordon B. Hinckley focused his remarks on the divine calling of Joseph Smith as the Prophet of the Restoration.  It was within his talk that President Hinckley named several of the "great things which God revealed through Joseph the Prophet."

Those subsequent days I followed with great interest as the next Pope was chosen.  I remember asking my husband during the process if he thought the Lord would guide the decision of these men who met together for them to be able to pick a good man to lead the Catholic Church.

"No," he answered.  "For it is not God's Church. They are left to themselves to decide."

His answer, along with the penetrating testimony of President Hinckley on that General Conference Sunday, added to my everlasting conviction that God has a true and living Church which He restored through Joseph Smith and continues to reveal to our living prophet today, President Thomas S. Monson.
